Davie Shipbuilding Signs Second Contract under the NSs for the Construction of the Polar Icebreaker, Flagship of the Coast Guard

Quebec City, September 16, 2024 — The team at GBV Avocats is proud to highlight the signing of a new contract by Davie Shipbuilding for the launch of the construction of a polar icebreaker, the future flagship of the Canadian Coast Guard.

This is the second contract awarded to Davie Shipbuilding under its partnership with the Government of Canada as part of the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS). The Honorable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, made the announcement on September 14.

Our team, which includes Me Marc-André Gravel, Me Charles-Francis Roy, and Me William Bérubé, played a key role in closely collaborating with Davie Shipbuilding to successfully negotiate with federal authorities. The conclusion of this contract marks another important step in GBV’s involvement in the various facets of Davie Shipbuilding's participation in the NSS.
